Two weeks later, another visit to my favourite nest and my favourite young blue herons. They appear to be testing their wings, catching the wind, exploring the rim of their nest and over the edge. Soon they will be official fledglings taking flight but not too far from the nest for a time. The development of the wings is beautiful to see. I particularly love the way the feathers seem to grow from the bluish quill parts looking very much like the inspiration for indian headdress. I am amazed each time I visit by how fast they grow becoming more graceful by the day.
